Position Overview
The Mountain Community School is seeking a steady, student-centered professional to support behavior interventions and structured student supports in our K–8 program.
This role focuses on direct student support, de-escalation assistance, and implementation of behavior plans in collaboration with teachers, EC staff, and school leadership. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, relationship-driven, and committed to helping students succeed within a structured and supportive school environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Student Support
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior support under the guidance of administration and EC staff
- Assist with implementation of behavior intervention plans
- Support students during structured and unstructured times, including transitions and recess
- Facilitate restorative conversations when appropriate
Crisis Response and De-Escalation
- Respond to behavior concerns as needed
- Assist with safe de-escalation strategies
- Support student re-entry to class after behavioral incidents
Data and Communication
- Document behavior incidents and interventions
- Track patterns and communicate observations to teachers and administrators
- Participate in student support meetings as appropriate
Collaboration
- Work closely with classroom teachers to reinforce expectations
- Maintain consistent communication with administration and EC staff
- Support schoolwide behavior expectations and supervision systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Experience working with children in educational, youth services, or counseling settings preferred
- Experience supporting students with behavioral or emotional needs strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication
- Ability to remain calm, consistent, and structured in high-pressure situations
